Overview
I've set up and managed two distinct home labs, each serving specific purposes.
First Home Lab
In the initial setup, I used a budget-friendly Tenda router to create a subnet within the primary home network. Notable components included:
- Minecraft Server: Hosted on an old laptop running PopOS in headless mode.
- TrueNAS + NextCloud Server: Utilizing an old computer with surplus drives for my grandpa's storage needs.
Second Home Lab
The second iteration featured advanced routing and firewall configurations, facilitated by a MikroTik router. Key elements comprised:
- Containerized Services:
- AdGuard: Effectively blocking intrusive services.
- Cloudflare DDNS Updater: Ensuring dynamic DNS functionality.
- VPN Servers: For secure remote access.
- Containerized CTF Challenges: Occasionally utilized for testing purposes.
Additionally, I maintain a separate Minecraft server hosted on a VPS running CentOS-like Linux.
